At the close of the 1787 Constitutional Convention, as delegates left Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, A woman, often identified as Elizabeth Willing Powel, asked #BenjaminFranklin, “Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”. #Franklin replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it”. Are we keeping it?
