So this week I was a little frustrated over the some of the news coming out of Washington D.C. and I fired off a letter to Senator Josh Hawley, Congressman Burlison, and Senator Schmitt. I also sent one to President Trump, and I wanted to share that letter with you. Here’s what I said:
I live in Springfield, Missouri. I admire Springfield for its low cost of living and low status anxiety. People here are not so consumed with wealth and power.
But I am concerned that our nation’s Executive Branch is. Unilateral suspension of foreign aid and domestic funding, threatening our closest friends and allies with tariffs paid for by the American people, waging pressure campaigns against civil servants, and allowing wealthy campaign donors unauthorized access to private information of the people, residents, and citizens of these United States is unacceptable. The potential theft of U.S. taxpayer dollars and protected information is of the utmost concern.
The United States has catered to wealthy lobbies, think tanks, and campaign donors while ignoring the needs of its people for far too long. Individuals such as Elon Musk must be barred from government work. Having seen incompetent and competent government while working in a uniformed service for seven years, I am gravely concerned by the increasingly monarchical rhetoric, propaganda, and blatant conflicts of interest coming out to the Executive Branch.
Biden’s pardons were weak, and he overspent. Obama failed to hold white collar criminals accountable for fraud. And now, the Trump administration is allowing billionaires to infiltrate government offices to manipulate government spending and launch pressure campaigns against civil servants. The government is by and for the privileged, not the people.
If the Executive Branch does not immediately reign in these rogue billionaires and special interests, the Legislative and Judicial Branches must. If the Legislative and Judicial Branches do not promptly check these reckless executive behaviors, the people must petition for impeachment. I look forward to seeing how you will act on this.
