On Sea Stories by William McRaven published in two thousand nineteen:
Three things stuck out: (1) daring, (2) disappointment, and (3) dedication.
William McRaven is a retired Admiral with 37 years of experience in the U.S. Navy. McRaven covers some of his most formative and extreme life experiences in detail. His writing is personal and principled.
From boyhood shenanigans to Navy Seal training to special operations to orchestration and command, McRaven’s Sea Stories make for a gripping read for uniformed service members and adrenaline junkies. McRaven has lived a life on the edge of his capabilities and capacities.
McRaven’s Sea Stories shows how he dared greatly and risked death during his career. At times he was simply lucky, blessed, or both. He mysteriously survived while others died.
But what remains absolutely clear from McRaven’s Sea Stories is dedication. What will happen if you remain dedicated to causes and principles greater than yourself? I don’t know, but McRaven’s life suggests that the answer to that question is worth your effort.
